Great Bedroom Interior Design Ideas For The Budget-Conscious

Look at all those interior design magazines or even any standard advertisement about the good home life. They all tantalize you with all these images of bedrooms that are such calm, well-designed, even luxurious places, that you just run to at the end of each day. Every time you see something like that, you can see how you can turn your bedroom into that. Until reality kicks in. You can't afford it. Here are a few tips to help you turn those images you have dancing in your head about what a perfect bedroom to look like, into reality.

Have you ever noticed how these designers talk about room makeovers on the Oprah show? They always talk a lot about the color the walls are. If the room they start with has stark white walls, they make a lot of fun of them, and then they start to consider some really bold color choices. The truth is, if you can put a fresh coat of paint on your walls and change the colors, you'll find that this would be a great way to bring a good bit of freshness, vibrancy and joy. Usually, for the bedroom, a beautiful calm blue or a nice sandalwood yellow can be great choices. Mostly, bedroom interior design ideas to do with color entirely depend on the color choices the person occupying the room prefers.

Magazines with spreads to do with bedroom interior design ideas never, ever publish a picture of a room that doesn't have art of some kind on the walls. Some people just prefer contemporary or modern art – even if they can't really understand what it is about. Whatever you choose – contemporary or regular – you can find affordable art online in places like Etsy. If there is an art school in your area, you can buy great student art for very little. This is a great way to go about decorating your bedroom. Original hand-painted art always brings infinitely more character to a room than something that gets mass manufactured. Some people just like to decorate their walls with blank canvases with great quotes that inspire them scrawled on.

The most expensive part of your new bedroom design of course will be the furniture. If you can't quite make room in your budget for a whole bedroom set brand-new from the store, you could try thrift stores and other sources for secondhand furniture. It doesn't even matter if the furniture that you find on offer is cosmetically bad-looking. Refinishing and re-polishing doesn't cost much.

In the same places that you find secondhand furniture, you could also do with keeping your eyes open for some great bedroom accessories. A nice earthen pot, a beautiful lamp, a pretty vase – you can get these secondhand on Etsy. It's hard to overestimate how important these things can be.

For the classiest bedroom interior design ideas, consider feng shui. Even if you don't believe in all that mumbo-jumbo, they still have some pretty good advice for everyone. For instance, get under-the-bed storage bins to throw all the clutter into. And keep the TV out. If you don't have enough closet space, consider investing a few dollars in an open rack. You'll find that showing your clothes off this way can be a pretty cool bedroom design idea.
